Recently immortalized in the movie Rocketman, the chap born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947 became Sir Elton Hercules John through sheer God-given talent. Sir Elton learned to play piano as a young lad in Pinner, London - and hasn’t stopped since. His music was the soundtrack of the 1970s and he moved from that into soundtracks, and tributes and charity: five Grammy Awards, five Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, a Disney Legends award, and a Kennedy Center Honor. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1998. An outwardly out personality, Sir Elton has been dragon-slaying AIDS for decades and hosts a yearly Oscar party - one of the hottest tickets around. His music is soul music to several generations.
